Empathy is the Highest Form of Critical Thinking

Last night, I saw something at Aashna’s “back-to-school night” that really grabbed my attention… and I will reproduce the picture I took below. It is the closest thing to an epiphany I have experienced.
For what it is worth, here’s what the Wiki says about “Critical Thinking” : Critical thinking is the study of clear and unclear thinking. The National Council for Excellence in Critical Thinking defines critical thinking as the intellectually disciplined process of actively and skilfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and/or evaluating information gathered from, or generated by, observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication, as a guide to belief and action.
The definition above in conjunction with the idea represented in the picture below seems to suggest that critical thinking, when duly completed will lead to empathy, without question and in every context and situation.
Phew! I have my work cut out… smile emoticon
Happy Teacher’s Day on that note!
